Student Becki Whittington with her winning design

First of all, I would like to say, “Welcome” and “Thank You” to all the great new students and shop customers who have come to classes and workshops and the Supply Shop this Summer at the new TileMosaicGirl shop in Glendale! You have all been a blast and I continue to be inspired by all your great work! Keep the photos and updates coming! Special Congrats go to TMG mosaic student (and part-time instructor) Becki Whittington, who submitted her first mosaic piece to a juried contest from the Broomfield Council on the Arts and Humanities and WON!!! Her tempered glass mosaic design will be gracing all of the posters for the 2012 Broomfield Days celebration! She was also honored to recieve a request from the Broomfield Library to add her artwork to their permanent collection! The annual Broomfield Days posters often sell out, so they can be pre-ordered at bcah1973@juno.com or at the poster booth at the September 15th festival if there are any remaining. I am SO proud of Becki, both for overcoming any nerves about entering an arts contest and for actually being the BIG WINNER!!!

Now, onto Fall 2012...I have found that my schedule and ‘life’ of making and selling art, teaching art, and managing the Mosaic Supply Shop has become just WAY too overloaded! So, I will be spacing my classes out more to try to handle it all a little bit better. I have also found that ‘Open Studio Time’ and open Supply Shop hours have not really ‘worked’, so, from now on, the Supply Shop will be open By Request only…just email, Facebook, text, or call me as far ahead as possible and we’ll see what we can arrange. I will be discontinuing Open Studio Time as a way to better manage things, but if you have a time that you really want to come and work on things, please let me know and maybe you can come do some “gluin'” with me while I’m working in the studio!

As far as classes go, I will be holding (2) this Fall: Mosaic Jewelry on Wednesday, October 10th, and a “Make a Mosaic Quickie” workshop for Mosaic Mirrors for Holiday Gifts on Sunday, December 9th. If you would like to set-up a custom, small group workshop or class, please contact me regarding availability, content, prices, etc.! I think I will offer the next Beginner’s Mosaics class in January 2013 and Tempered Glass Mosaics in February 2013, with Outdoor/Garden Mosaics classes not starting until Spring 2013. I am also still looking into having other, guest instructors come and teach some classes for all of you great people! Stay tuned!

Lastly, I wanted to share that I will be exhibiting and selling my artwork at a number of events this Fall: The Friends of the Museum and Library show at Littleton’s Ketring Park on Saturday, October 6th; the “El Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Deadshow at the CHAC Norte Gallery, October 3rd through November 3rd; and the “Christmas Mercado/Our Lady of Guadalupe” show at the CHAC Norte Gallery, November 7th through December 24th. A unique opportunity starting September 1st is the “Beyond Borders Online Mosaic Auction” benefitting Doctors Without Borders, an online-only auction held September 1st through 21st. Register to bid! Follow your favorite artworks with email notifications! Refer your friends! All pieces this year measure 6×6″, which will make many accessible to lots of people! (And, FINALLY)…I need to let you know that I will be out of town on an extended vacation and unavailable by phone, email, web, facebook, etc. until about September 20th. Please know that you won’t get a response from me until then but feel free to contact me and leave your questions or requests. HAPPY LATE SUMMER! (refusing to acknowledge Fall until I see snow!!)
